2019 Point-in-Time Count

19-Dec-2018

On Wednesday, January 23, 2019, hundreds of trained volunteers and experienced outreach professionals will come together to conduct a single-night count and survey of people experiencing homelessness in the District of Columbia.

The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count creates a "snapshot" of the scope and scale of homelessness in our city that provides policy makers and funders with critical information on the number and demographic characteristics of the families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness. The District of Columbia is one of hundreds of communities across the country that conduct a PIT Count on one night during the last ten days in January to secure federal homeless assistance funding from the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

By collecting this crucial information we can better target resources and be more efficient toward our goal of ending homelessness in our community.
